Cycling full day from Saigon to floating market in CaiBe

Destinations: The majority of Vietnam’s fruits come from the Mekong Delta. Tien Giang is one the province supplies tropical fruits almost all year round. Cai Be floating market and its town are busy exchanging farm products every day. People can find a variety of tropical fruits that are produced by farmers of this region in the markets of Saigon, Hue, and Ha Noi.

Green Trail Tours guide and driver will pick up you at your hotel in the morning and transport you for 2 1/2 hours to Tieng Giang province. The bike tour begins in Cai Be town, where you will cycle 25 km on small single track trails, and travel country roads through fruit orchards in the rural areas of Cay Lay and Cai Be. Stop for lunch at an ancient house which was a landlord's house during the time of French Indochina. After lunch, you will have free time to relax in a hammock, or walk around the fruit gardens. In the afternoon, continue to cycle on another 20 km trail back to the van. By biking this afternoon, you will have an opportunity to use the little ferries and see water activities on the upper reaches of the Mekong River before you are transported back to Saigon in the late afternoon. Day 01: Hanoi – Laocai. Overnight train.

20:00, you will be met up by Green Trail Tours guide, driver at your hotel lobby (in Hanoi) and transferred to Hanoi

Railway Station for overnight train to Sapa. Train??? Departure at 21:00 (TBA).

Day 02: Arrive early morning Laocai. Transfer to Sapa. Cycling. Dinner and homestay (B/L/D).

Arrive at Laocai Railway Station at around 6:00am in the morning. You will be greeted by another Lotussia Travel guide, driver and transferred to Sapa.

After a short rest and breakfast in a local restaurant in town, cycle downhill on a windy road, which goes along Muong Hoa valley. The valley is home to Black Hmong, Giay and Red Dao minorities. From the road you will have many opportunities to enjoy amazing scenery of mountains and rice paddy terraces as far as the eyes can see. After a short break in Su Pan, you will cycle downhill until you reach Thanh Phu village of Tay minority. Here you stop for lunch in a traditional Tay house. After lunch, your ride will be mostly uphill; you head toward Sin Chai village of Red Dao minority. Where you will stay overnight in the red Dao family.

Day 03: Cycling. Transfer back to Laocai. Overnight train to Hanoi (B,L).

Today’s ride will be a little softer. You will pass by some tinny villages. You can stop by a local school and give children some small gifts such as pens or books. You will also be able to meet Xa Pho minority, one of the smallest ethnic group, which cannot be found in other areas. You will pass by Thanh Phu and continue to Ban Ho. In Ban Ho you will enjoy lunch in a local house. After lunch, you will take a short walk to the nearby river, where you will be able to have a swim. You can take a break and have a cup of tea in a Tay

house before you get on a car for a journey back to Sapa and then Laocai. Take the overnight train back to Hanoi. Train??? Departure at 20:30 (TBA).

Day 04: Arrive Hanoi early morning. Pickup at Hanoi Railway Station & transfer to your hotel. End tour.

Day 1: Hanoi - Lao Cai

8:30pm Depart from Hotel by private coach to the railway station and catch the 10:00pm night train to Lao Cai (soft sleeper with aircon), arrive 5:30 or 6:00am

Day 2 (B-L-D): Lao Cai - Bac Ha

Have breakfast in a local restaurant then gear up and start riding the rolling, sealed road 46km from Lao Cai to Bao Nhai Bridge. Board a long boat for a 1.5hr trip up the Chay River to relax and take in the spectacular scenery. Following a picnic lunch in 'Fairy Cave', head back down river (1hr) to Trung Do village in a Tay Hamlet. You'll enjoy dinner and the warm hospitality of your Tay hosts during this wonderful home stay experience.

Day 3 (B-L-D): Bac Ha - Chay River

After Breakfast, spend an hour walking around the hamlet to meet the locals and enjoy the breathtaking scenery. Gear up to head out along a 2km local trail to pick up the main road, then it's an 18km climb to Bac Ha. For those who find it tough, your support vehicle will be there to help you up the stunning mountain pass. Check into the hotel in Bac Ha, relax and enjoy lunch. Following lunch you'll do an 8km loop around Bac Ha to visit the locals, stopping in Ban Pho village. After this, you'll hit a single track trail and dirt road winding through plum gardens and rice fields, and past local homes and inhabitants of the villages surrounding Bac Ha. Overnight in your Hotel in Bac Ha. .

Day 4 (B-L-D): Bac Ha - Hanoi

Following breakfast, visit the impressive house of the former H'mong King before embarking on a 12km ride to Lung Phin village, home of Flower H'mong and Phu La people. The ride is on sealed road and has a 3km steep climb which you can ride or drive depending on your energy level! Spend 30 minute visiting the locals, then you can relax and glide the 12km back to Bac Ha. After lunch in your hotel, you'll check out and start riding out of town, down the stunning mountain road, along the Chay River valley and back to Lao Cai. You can choose to ride 24km down the mountain to Bao Nhai Bridge then drive to Lao Cai, or ride the full 82km to Lao Cai. You'll be able to shower in Lao Cai before sitting down to dinner. Night train back to Ha Noi. Tour ends 5:30am at Ha Noi Station.

Day 02: Cao Son – Lao Cai

The trails are secluded and less travelled. You will have a very impressive day while enjoying the magnificent view of Ta Thang and Chay river. Proceeding to Coc Ly where you will take a boat trip on Chay river. Lunch with local family in Trung Do village.

In the afternoon, you will have a beautiful time to experience the local agriculture: rice, sugar, tea plantation. Visit China border before return to Hanoi.

Day 1: Friday : Sapa - Bac Ha

You will start out from Sapa by cycling on the dramatic road leading downhill towards Lao Cai. For the next 1 1/2 hours, you will do not need to use the pedals, just concentrating on the road and enjoy the fantastic surroundings. After a short time passing the bustling town of Lao Cai, you will be again in the countryside of the Red River valley. The temperature now is much different from what you experienced earlier this morning. For the next 20 km you will be driving in lowland area, before reaching the village of Pac Ngam. Now we have a long and sometimes steep ascend to our final destination of today, Bac Ha. Should you feel tired from riding the bike, your jeep will pick you up and give you a lift to Bac Ha.

You will check in a small but comfortable hotel, where you will stay for the next two nights. A cold drink, a shower and a tasteful dinner will complete this day, and make it one to remember. (L,D)

Day 2. Saturday: Bac Ha Can Cau

Today is time for a special market experience: the Can Cau market. The road between Bac Ha and Can Cau is hilly but very beautiful. The ride there will take you around 1 and a half hours. The products on the market are interesting, and the many different groups of ethnic minority people represented make the market an unforgettable experience. You will spend all the morning to walk around the market exploring its magnificent chaos. In the afternoon, you will have the opportunity to visit one small village of Flower Hmong ethnic minority before cycling back to Bac Ha. (B,L,D)

Day 3. Sunday: Can Cau - Sapa

You will have the opportunity to visit the Bac Ha market. The huge market is always a riot of color with its collection of ethnic peoples. Flower Hmong, Phu La, Dao Tuyen are just a few of the tribes present. All gathered here to buy and sell their products.

We start out from Bac Ha by cycling downhill to Bao Nhai, where we get on a boat to have a cruise on the Chay river. It is a perfect way to finish our trip by sitting in the boat exploring the life at the riverbank. Your jeep will wait for you in Bao Nhai and take to Lao Cai Railways Station to reach the train back to Hanoi. Another possibility is to return to Sapa for more adventures holiday experiences in the mountains of Vietnam. (B.L)
